Queens Award for Voluntary Service

We were delighted to be presented with a Queens Award for Voluntary Service by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Antrim, Mr David McCorkell. This is the highest accolade for a voluntary organisation.
In just four years, more than 100 Mae Murray Foundation volunteers have contributed over 30,000 volunteer hours, supported over 2000 people and have been shaping our vision to enable people of all ages and abilities to take part equally in social and leisure settings across Northern Ireland. We are creating change together.
Whether you have helped us paint our office, held a fundraiser, contribute to our advisory or community focus groups, support our events, help with administration or graphic design, are a Director or part of our Youth Panel…..this award is for YOU.
Our work would not be possible without people like you giving up your time freely!
Due to COVID-19 factors and space restrictions we could only celebrate with a small number of volunteers who have been helping in the last few months. So if you weren’t able to be with us yesterday, remember this award is for you too and we hope to celebrate again with you at some stage in the future.

All-terrain Wheelchair Loan Scheme

Please note, following Covid-19 risk assessment of this project, our beach loan scheme will not be operating from our beaches this summer. We are conscious our members may wish to experience the outdoors differently and therefore an alternative loan scheme will be operating from our Larne office; subject to capacity and pre-booking. All-terrain chairs will be loaned to families for their sole use and sanitised and decontaminated at our offices before being loaned to differing households.

Chairs will be allocated, to existing Foundation members only, in order of receipt of booking forms.

To book a chair, please click on the link below and read both the Hippocampe Guideance as well as the terms and conditions (within the booking form), only then should you complete the booking complete the booking form and email it to events@maemurrayfoundation.org All the information you will require will be on this booking form and the Hippocampe Guidance.

Please note – if you wish to complete the booking form on your phone, download the Microsoft word app (this is free) and when you open the link, open in ‘Word’.

AGM

YOUR Lived Experience is key!

As a membership organisation, we are led by YOU, our members. The progress we have made in the last few years is only possible because people with LIVED EXPERIENCE are creating the solutions. Join us at our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 29th September at 7.30pm (via Zoom) to have your say on what our priorities should be for the services we deliver for the year ahead, in light of the ongoing pandemic. For example, beach loan schemes restarting, alternative loan schemes, outdoor events, online activities.

If you wish, you will be able to engage on the night and can talk on Zoom or simply watch and type your thoughts into the chatbox if preferred.

Register now by email – we really appreciate you taking the time to help us Create Change Together.

Outdoor Sessions

Are you concerned about being in busy public spaces? Do you miss the outdoors? Would you like to enjoy nature but still have accessible toilet facilities to hand?

We have limited unique opportunities for members to join us on private ground to enjoy the solitude or meet a small number of other members. We will have Accessoloo (Mobiloo) on-site and you will have the option of the following activities: scavenger hunt, music workshop, live music and sand and water play, all whilst social distancing. Please note these sessions are outdoors and are therefore subject to weather conditions. Check your emails for our Newsletter giving further information.
