Mae Murray Foundation has been awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service
We are honoured to announce that Mae Murray Foundation has been awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. We are humbled as this is the highest accolade a voluntary group can receive in the UK and are very grateful for the nomination.
As a relatively new organisation, this is incredible recognition for our 90 volunteers who have dedicated over 20,000 hours working to create real change for those who have been excluded from society, due to disability, medical condition, age or caring role. Each volunteer believes in our vision of building an inclusive society, where everyone can take part together side by side, recognising one another to be of equal and inseparable value.
The Queen’s Award recognises outstanding work by volunteer groups to benefit their local communities and was created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.
In just 4 years we have created 3 Inclusive Beaches across Northern Ireland, introduced early years powered mobility and helped over 2000 people be more independent and participate in communities through summer schemes, family events and other social projects.
Our Chairperson, Alix Crawford says “I founded the Mae Murray Foundation to build societal change led by ‘lived experience.’ I am overwhelmed that so many wonderful volunteers have embraced this ethos. We are one community, one family and I thank you all, past and present for your dedication. This award signifies the difference you have made to the quality of life of others. Thank you.” #QAVS2020
